Getting and staying in shape is all about finding what works for us. Many of us do not have the time to get to the gym regularly. When I am in-season, I am lucky to get to the gym once a week! This does not mean that I let myself lose everything I worked for in the off-season, and it also doesn't mean that I don't still train. With my busy schedule and hectic travel, I found that I needed to find a way to get my workouts in at home, at the field, or anywhere that didn't require me to go out of my way. I realized that if I only have 45 mins several days a week to work out, I can't afford to waste 25 of them going to and from the gym! It really was time to work smarter, not harder.
So I began designing my workouts that could be done entirely without equipment, and would still keep me in shape for a professional season. I incorporated calisthenics, yoga poses, and a little bit of my own creativity to create convenient, efficient, and effective workouts. When COVID-19 hit, I found myself doing the same thing for my clients unable to access the gym. My entire perspective of training was changed forever. I realized that with proper training, most individuals can achieve fantastic results while skipping the gym membership and saving themselves the drive. In fact, many were MORE consistent with remote training at home, because it was sustainable, IT WORKED FOR THEM!
